English Abstract

As part of birds of prey conservation actions run by
the FIR, in 1 9 7 6 BEGUN in Loraine then a year later
Pertuis in the Loir-et-Cher, pioneered a new type of
conservation action the monitoring of ground nesting
raptors in cultivated fields : Harriers. From the
“monitoring reports” produced by the FIR (French
birds of prey conservation charity) and following a
first synthesis in 1 9 9 6 , a second one considering 25
years ( 1 9 7 6 – 2 0 0 1 ) of conservation of these protected
species is presented here. Two categories of
data were considered: human resources on one
hand and the Harriers on the other. Raw data as
well as analysis are provided. Factors influencing
installation and productivity are briefly discussed; a
notable fact is the constant decline of Montagu’s
Harrier populations monitored since 1 9 9 5 , We also
compare the estimated and monitored populations
in 2002.
