Abstract

Die Verbreitung des Teichmolches (Lissotriton vulgaris) in Berlin wird dargestellt. Der Molch kommt in städtischen und vorstädtischen Wohngebieten mit privaten Gärten sowie in Wäldern und ehemaligen landwirtschaftlichen Flächen vor. In städtischen und vorstädtischen Gebieten werden Teiche in Parks und Gärten als Laichplätze genutzt. Anlässlich der Wahl des Teichmolchs zur "Amphibie des Jahres 2010" führten Feldherpetologen von DGHT und NABU Interviews über das Vorkommen von Teichmolchen in Schrebergärten in Berlin. Dies führte zu neuen Zählrekorden von Teichmolchen, die die Kenntnisse über die Verbreitung der Art in Berlin verbessern. Darüber hinaus wurde eine exemplarische Studie zur Populationsentwicklung von Teichmolchen in einem künstlichen Gartenteich in Berlin-Treptow/Köpenick durchgeführt. Der weitgehend natürlich begrünte Teich war ca. 20 m² groß und 1,2 m tief. Bis zu 258 Teichmolche migrierten jedes Jahr darauf. Es werden phänologische und morphometrische Daten präsentiert. Veränderungen der terrestrischen Lebensraumstrukturen (intensivierter Hausbau, Umnutzung in Freizeitgärten) und allmähliche Abfolgen im Teich werden als mögliche Ursachen für Populationsschwankungen diskutiert.

English Abstract

The distribution of the Smooth Newt (Lissotriton vulgaris) in Berlin is portrayed. The newt occurs in urban and suburban residential areas with private gardens as well as in forests and former agricultural lands. In urban and suburban areas, ponds in parks and gardens are used as spawning sites. On occasion of the election of the Smooth Newt as the “Amphibian of the year 2010”, field herpetologists of the DGHT and NABU conducted interviews on the occurence of Smooth Newts in allotment gardens in Berlin. These produced new records of Smooth Newts, which improve the knowledge of the distribution of the species in Berlin. In addition, an exemplary study of the population development of Smooth Newts in an artificial garden pond in Berlin-Treptow/Köpenick was conducted. The largely naturally vegetated pond was about 20 m² in dimension at 1.2m deep. Up to 258 Smooth Newts migrated to it every year. Phenological and morphometrical data are presented. Changes in terrestrial habitat structures (intensified house construction, conversion of utility into recreational gardens) and gradual successions in the pond are discussed as possible causes for fluctuations in population sizeby.
