Abstract

Mroczek pozłocisty w jednej lokalizacji w budce trocinobetonowej w zamierającym drzewostanie świerkowym, a gacek szary w budce trocinobetonowej w młodniku bukowym.

English Abstract

The research was carried out in 2017 and 2018 in the Tatra Mountains. In the summer of 2017 and 2018, 106 wooden Stratmann and sawdust-concrete Issel bat boxes were hung in different types of forests (in upper and lower forest zones). Three bat species were observed during the inspections: Bechstein’ bat Myotis bechsteinii, the northern bat Eptesicus nilssonii and the grey long-eared bat Plecotus austriacus. Each of them is very rarely found in this type of shelters. Bechstein’s bat was observed four times in bat boxes placed in a beech forest on the slope of Mount Wierch Poroniec. One adult female was observed in an Issel box (1064 m a.s.l.) and three individuals were observed in two Stratmann boxes (two of them of unknown sex at 1052 m a.s.l. and one male at 1062 m a.s.l.). The northern bat was observed in a Stratmann box in one locality in the Rybi Potok Valley (coniferous forest) near the Wanta forester’s lodge (1140 m a.s.l.). The occurrence of this species in bat boxes has not been previously reported in Poland. The grey long-eared bat was recorded in a Stratmann box located in the beech forest on the slope of Mount Wierch Poroniec (1072 m a.s.l.). This is the highest located site of this bat species in Poland and the highest one in the Tatras in the summer period.
