English Abstract

Common Redstart and Spotted Flycatcher population
densities were monitored over five years from
1 9 9 9 to 2 0 0 3 in mature Oak (Quercus robur and
Quercus petraea) of the A l l i e r “département” (central
France). Numbers fluctuates in relation to the
regional populations and in response to forestry
activities such as thinning and clear felling. Plots
where no thinning has taken place in the past 10
years hold les than 2 . 5 territories per 10 ha of each
species, whereas both species rapidly increase
their density in thinned plots (3 to 5 territories per
ha). Five years after felling Common Redstarts
move away from the habitat while still occupy the
habitat.
