English Abstract

In the “Baie de Somme” Nature Reserve, natural
colonisations are linked with site quietness (Bittern,
Night Heron, Little and Cattle Egrets, Grey Heron,
Mute Swan, Spotted and Boillon’s Crakes, Stilt) or
habitat management (Spoonbill, Avocet,
Mediterranean and Black-headed Gulls). The management
as also ben responsible for population
increases (Mallard and Lapwing). However, many
birds are not affected by present habitat management
(Shelduck, Gadwall, Teal, Pintail, Garganey,
Shoveler, Oystercatcher, Little Ringed, Ringed and
Kentish Plovers, Common and Herring Gulls,
Sandwich Tern). Two introduction programs have
been successful (White Stork and Greylag Goose).
Conservation and population increase of EEC
79/409 target species (especially Spoonbill, Avocet
and Mediterranean Gull) are being sough though
long-term managements of the reserve.
